I installed this in a 1976 Honda GL1000. The original pump has plastic vanes. The updated-version has metal, so I consider that a plus. Do NOT even consider replacing without replacing the various gaskets and o-rings that accompany the pump and transmission cover that you have to remove to get to it. Also, I highly recommend a manual (the factory manual from Honda is outstanding) to step you through the process. Take your time, do it right, and you’ll be pleased! PS - if your bike is old enough to need a new water pump, consider a new fuel pump, timing belts and pulleys, radiator hoses and cap, etc. You’ll save time in the long run doing it with the water pump replacement.
