I bought these shoes for white water rafting. I have used them on one three-day trip down Hell's Canyon. The upper is almost a mesh-like nylon fabric that dries fairly quickly. The sole has a good tread pattern and is made of good gripping material for an excellent sole when trying to move across slick, wet rocks on river shores. I bought these shoes on the recommendation of a friend who wore a pair on a two week raft trip on the Grand Canyon. The big surprise to me has been how comfortable these shoes are. They are like wearing moccasins or socks--but with arch support and foot protection! They are probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. These shoes are fairly light. They seem durable, but I would like to see how well they last out on some of the long, multi-day river trips. These shoes are awesome especially for wading through water. If you're going to be walking in the sand or where there are small stones/pebbles, wear neoprene socks. I wore these for snorkeling and they really helped with stepping on the sharp lava rocks in the water. The sole grips pretty well on wet rocks that aren't coated with algae. DO NOT wear these to do long hikes, especially on top of gravel trails. The soles are not hard enough to stop you from feeling the rocks underneath. After a 6 mile trek on top of a gravel trail, my right foot ended up being so strained that I can hardly walk without a limp. This is my second pair of Drainmaker shoes. These new ones seem to be better constructed and may hold up better than my first pair. I like the shoe strings much better than the bungee like cord in my first pair. That being said, it was disappointing to find that there are no drain holes in the soles. They allowed the water to drain very quickly from the shoe and also allowed the shoe to dry faster.I will wait to see how they hold up in pool water, where I wear them for water aerobics. Chemicals in the pool water treatment really deteriated the material in my first pair.So far fit is good. Was surprised i needed a 10, since most other shoes its a 11-12.5. my Solomon X-ultra or something are marked as size 12 i believe. Just follow the measurement guide and it should fit fine, from heel to top of big toe (longest distance). Get the CM or convert Inch to CM and pick the closest. My foot is 11 Inches, which is 27.94 CM Since size 10 is 28 CM i went with that and it fits very nice, not much wiggle room so jamming toe shouldn't be a problem.Haven't done anything with them yet, but next week ill be up at a lake and can test them out.I wondered about the sizing when I first looked at this shoe. I typically will wear a 9.5 shoe. My last pair of water shoes were Speedo and which were a size 10. I was tempted to get the larger size than what they recommended but decided to go with their sizing suggestion which was a 9. The shoes fit perfectly. I love them. They are light weight, and are extremely comfortable. I use them for wearing around the house and for traveling in the car on distant trips as well as when riding my bicycle. They are not designed to be used like a tennis shoe, but for casual wear I think they work great. I love the color. I don't plan on using them in the water.I originally bought this shoe in my size 11.5 but had to return for a size 11 so they may run smaller than your normal size. I had no problem returning and re-ordering the right size. They wear and feel just like regular sneakers with or without socks, I really can't tell you much more than that because I haven't worn them in water yet. I bought them for a cruise which isn't until November of 2017. I like the way they look and feel dry so I don't think there will be a problem when they're wet. I would recommend them to my friends. Being a diabetic you are always trying to protect your feet in water and I think these will do the trick.Got these for a trip to Europe - i LOVE THEM and wear them ALL THE TIME. They’re so light and i like how your feet feel cool in them. no need for socks b/c even with a sweaty foot like mine - your dogs stay cool. These have been through: rocks, dirt, desert, water, light climbing, paved roads etc... still look new. easy to clean. SO LIGHT WEIGHT. wish they’d keep making this color. In humid weather they will take several hours to dry completely, however, I have had a pair for two years, using them for multiple canoe/float trips in Missouri. In the Smoky Mountains I have used them as trail runners once or twice when I forgot my other pair, and used them for wading shoes while fly fishing without waders (I also use them for rainy weather in the summer and water games with my student ministry). They are extremely comfortable and durable. Missouri rocks and gravel don't make a dent! I would't expect them to go on a hike with them after wading (they will remain damp for a while), but the shoe itself is comfortable enough to do it.I bought the Columbia Men's Drainmaker for my trip to Costa Rica which included jungle trekking, white water rafting, swimming in the ocean, kayaking, crossing rocky rivers, running and surfing. The shoes protected my feet without irritation or rubbing which is the case with some water shoes. The shoes traction on slippery and wet rocks and wood is remarkable. Futhermord, the shoes drain very quickly which is needed in a highly humid environment. Finally they look very sports fashionable and cool with shorts on. Highly recommended. The best trainers everBought these for my son for his school trip involving water hikes. They did the job...Perfect, lightweight, quick drying and comfortable.very comfy and light. perfect for summer time
