My first attempt installing this was a nightmare, it leaked no matter what I did. Finally got it sealed then when it came time to change the filter it leaked again. The filter housing is well made, it is heavy duty, has dual O rings on the blue housing at the top above the threads. SOOOO>>>>>>> Here's what I did that solved my problems, FIRST the threads in this filter are NOT true NPT so when you buy a bushing to reduce 1 inch down to 3/4 inch it is very sloppy. MFG says 10 wraps of Teflon tape.... I had more than that with pipe dope, still dripped. The threads are brass, so my first install I used a brass bushing's (1 inch reducing to 3/4 inch)The main problem is...the depth of the female threads (of the filter) is too deep for the length of the brass bushing, so the bushing can't bottom out before hitting the filter housing on the outside. Which means the sloppy threads with the American NPT bushing is difficult to seal.So, I went to the local hardware and got new bushings made of Galvanized pipe again 1 inch down to 3/4 inch. The galv. bushing has about two or three threads more in length. BUT.... because the bottom of the female threads is flat, and so is the bottom of the male bushing threads. I got an O ring and made sure it had to be pushed in to set flat inside the female ports, which takes 90% of the stress of the water pressure. See the picture...Now the bushing does not bottom out...but does squash the O ring to help with the seal.Think of it like putting a nozzle on the end of your garden hose. (It will leak without a washer) I still used Teflon tape on all threads but did not need more than 4-5 wraps. NO LEAKS YAHOO!!BE SURE TO...Use food grade grease on the rubber O rings and threads of the blue housing when installing filter, and when changing filters.DO NOT...sweat copper near the Teflon tape...sweat the pipe fittings first then wrap the tape and install the pipe, making the last connection (sweat) AWAY from the Teflon tape. (Even then I used a wet rag wrapped around the Tape to absorb heat)Hold the RED button down while SLOWLEY filling the filter with water, let go when water comes out vent.HIGHLY RECCOMEND........Installing bypass for service...so that you don't have to shut down the whole house and drain the pipes. See 1st Picture.Also be sure to release the pressure (RED BUTTON) when changing the filter, helps un-screwing the housing.One last thing.... the filter that comes with this when new only measures 9 &3/4 inches tall. I have tried 10-inch-tall filters that are supposed to fit but seem to be too tall for the housing to screw in far enough for the two O rings to seal. (again see #1 pic-very little gap when screwed in all the way) Only 1/4 turn past snug.It can work :)The filter looks sturdy and good quality But the inner treads are not good at all I tried several times using the teflon tape fallowing the specifications with not good results because was leaking on each one. The inner tread of the filter is metal and my fitting metal too. My last option was using a rubber washer inside before the fitting and teflon tape on the tread and no more leaking. I didn’t return the filter because was installed already and was in the middle of my project. I tried others filters with plastic tread and no problem at all.Fácil de instalarFirst off , good strong unit , heavy duty bracket, etc.More of buyer beware, this comes with zero fittings forthe unit itself. Only thing isHousing ,filter wrench &filter. No adapters to screw into the housing.Make sure you order the extra stuff you need , I'm in middle of no where that sells anything for this.The headline says it all. The body is good and I like the pressure gauge but . . . .Being I had defective issues Laura @ Purplus resolved my situation. Very good customer service especially from Laura. No complaintsPurchased as part of my whole house filter project. Fist one was installed and the pressed in fittings weren’t sealed wasted A bunch of water overnight. No big deal. Accidents happen. I get a replacement. It gets installed and everything looks good. Use it for a day or two checking on it every couple hours. Tiny leak on the inlet side. Stream of water starts blowing out the outlet side threads. Soaking my basement. After labor and materials I really wish there was payment from the seller to accommodate labor and materials. Now I’ll be going round three with a different product.The first one we ordered a plumber put it in. He had trouble threading on the filter housing where it did not leak. He told us it was defective and we should order a replacement to replace it. When we got the replacement. I, the man of the house decided I would install it. We had a $300,00 plumbing bill on the first install. I Installed the replacement with new and better fittings and had little trouble doing it. When I slowly turned the water on, the pressure relief button on top of the cap started leaking . I could not get it to stop. I will now have to take some of my plumbing apart and see if I can fix the pressure relief button. We were told by an Amazon Representative that they could not send us a second replacement. They will only refund our money.
