The quality and performance of this hose absolutely shocked me and truly made me kick myself for not getting it sooner. I live full-time in a 5th wheel and for the first 2 1/2 winters I used my fresh water tank and pump to get water when the temperatures went below freezing. I used to have to disconnect my hose from both the RV and also from the spigot in the ground. If temperatures when really low, I would cover the spigot with a heating pad, using blankets to cover it, and then put a study container over it. This all worked well for me, but it was a lot of work! It is so much nicer to use water freely and not think about refilling the fresh water tank. Well, the guage on my fresh water tank stopped working and I had to fill without knowing if I was filling it to the top or not. Over time this left me with a tank that was very low. I called my RV repair guy to check the new pump he had put in because I was not getting any water. When he came out, he discovered that the water in the tank was empty. I felt incredibly embarrassed. He then said to me, "Why don't you get a heated hose?" Since the length I would need was 30 feet and I did not know how well they would perform, I had always avoided that idea. However, at that moment, not only did his recommendation hit home, but I knew that we here in Missouri were about to enter at least a good 2 weeks of subfreezing temperatures. It felt like now or never. I went to Amazon and began to read the reviews of various hoses and found the reviews of this hose to be very good, especially in lieu of the impressive price. I purchased the hose and got it all attached within just a day or so of those freezing temperatures. We actually went down as low as -2 here. I covered the spigot end of the hose with a heating pad, and then put a couple of blankets on top of it and the generous end of the hose heating portion or well covered "wire". I had a bluetooth thermometer that I put on top of it all, covered the blankets with the rectangular container, and then proceeded to watch. Would this really do the job or not? First temperatures went into the low 20's, then the teens, then the single digits. At first I would get up in the middle of the night to see if I still had running water inside the RV and I did. The temps finally dipped below zero, and I took screen shots of the outside thermometer I have (labeled "temperature tree") as well as the temperature inside the rectangular container covering the long end of the hose heating "wire" where it joins the spigot with the heating pad on low (labeled "spigot project"). I was both shocked and extremely excited to finally have running water inside my RV without having to think about refilling the tank. This heated hose did an amazing job and totally took me to a new level of RV life - running water without using the pump and without having to refill the fresh water tank. I am extremely thankful that my RV technician recommended this idea, in spite of the embarrassing reason for his visit that day. I would highly recommend this product. It shipped very quickly, was packed with care, and came with all the possible connectors needed to attach to both the spigot/water source and to the RV itself. There are a couple of inches of that heating "wire" (well insulated, but I don't know what to call it), I tucked that in to the area where the hose connects to the RV itself, I took one of those white foam faucet covers, put some fabric insulation inside of it (a piece from a moving blanket), cut out the bottom for where the hose comes up to meet the RV, and taped it all securely with gorilla tape. Everything was such a success. Going through those extreme temperatures was made a WHOLE lot easier with this hose. It has the weight and feel of great quality and its performance was flawless. I highly recommend this brand and considering using them for use in your RV during the winter. I have learned that people use these for years. There is obviously a sensor in the hose itself so it turns on only when needed and shuts off when temperatures go up. GREAT product!
